Atlas Copco Underground Drilling Rig

Overview

Imagine the first time you are entering the mine, operating the large Atlas Copco drilling rig. The path is narrow and it is dark.
What if you could learn how to master the machine before you even have seen it in real life? With the new Atlas Copco
underground drilling rig simulator that is possible! There are many good reasons why you should use simulator in
training of new operators as well as experienced ones. The simulator is also a part of the Atlas Copco Master Driller Program

Training program

In the Atlas Copco simulator training program there are nine different exercises with increasing boomer polaroid
severity. The program takes the operator through basic exercises such as
maneuvering the booms and feeders and how to move the machine.

The RCS system is also integrated in the training. The operator will learn how to understand and use the information given by the system.
The operator will also learn how to interpret errors from the manometers and how to identify and correct problems.

To create a realistic field of view, and a more immersive experience, the Atlas Copco simulator uses a complete, original Boomer E2C cabin. Inside the cab, there is a multiple screen system, where the front and rear windshield are replaced by two large LCD-screens imaging the real-time simulation. To be able to take advantage of the current session, a 50" audience screen is mounted outside the cab, enabling a smaller group of operators to watch and learn. All functions, including the Atlas Copco Rig Controls System (RCS) are fully functional, ensuring that the operators are well prepared for the reality.
